Trading Risk Platform: Global Product Discovery

image

This set of discovery sessions thirty-five (35) global Credit Suisse team members convened at their Madison Ave New York headquarters to discuss the idea of a Trader Risk Analyser (TRA) application and ultimately to identify a Minimal Viable Product (MVP).

Over the course of two days we gained insights from observing human experience via the employee interviews and associated personas (Risk Manager, Front Office, CRO / FO Executive ), we analyzed challenges and opportunities and we envisioned future possibilities. All contributed to us being able to identify an optimal, future experience for the TRA as well as prioritized features & capabilities to establish an MVP.

Additionally, we took a deep dive into discussing fifteen risk measures (and associated data sets) that risk managers currently use on a daily/weekly basis. Our goal was to understand their offerings, limitations and opportunities in order to prioritize their value impact for the MVP as well as the future state of the application.

The output of these sessions was a Findings deck, which detailed the journey we took with each persona to discover his/her needs for the Trader Risk Analyser :

  • Understand his/her daily activities and associated emotions (Design Thinking Experience Mapping Activities)
  • See a new idea that addresses the issues, gaps and opportunities as well as highlights its benefits and goals (Design Thinking Concept Posters)
  • See a sketch prototype (2-3 screens) of this new idea that showcases the proposed experience through specific features and functionalities (Rapid Prototypes)
  • Understand which features and capabilities are critical, important and peripheral to the success of the TRA (Bull’s Eye Diagrams)
  • And lastly, understand the impact value and implementation difficulty for each of the critical and important features to identify what’s High Value, Quick Win, Strategic and Luxury so we have a vision of how to move forward with experience design and development (Value Matrix)

These prioritized features - a combination of High Value & Quick Wins - for each persona were overlaid with the Data prioritization to identify the experiences for the Trader Risk Analyser app MVP.
